During May 2000 English Nature invited the British public to come along to an Open Day at one of 20 National Nature reserves throughout the country. In Dorset, the historic Iron Age Hillfort of Hambledon Hill was chosen. Over 1500 people got involved with the activities, which included demonstrations of flint knapping by William Lord; guided wildlife rambles by volunteer wardens; and guided walks around the hill fort by archaeologists from English Heritage. |
